In a significant move to deepen the company’s data management portfolio, Panzura has launched Panzura Symphony, a comprehensive data services platform. The company says the solution will harmonise the complexities of unstructured data with business outcomes.
This launch signals Panzura is making additional strides to compete in the unstructured data management market. The strategic move began with the acquisition of Moonwalk Universal, a provider of advanced data discovery and storage optimisation solutions. This acquisition was not just a business expansion but a calculated step towards Panzura’s broader market strategy.
By integrating Moonwalk’s innovative technology, Panzura says it will provide customers with greater visibility, security, and scalability across hybrid-cloud environments. Dan Waldschmidt, CEO of Panzura, previously discussed the strategic importance of this acquisition. He said, “When it comes to your data, you need to see more to do more. We are thrilled to bring Moonwalk together with Panzura to help our customers achieve the visibility they need to do impossible things with their data.”
Headquartered in the U.S. with offices in San Francisco, Panzura has dedicated European operations and leads its international sales through staff based in the U.K.
Building on the foundation laid by the acquisition of Moonwalk, Panzura has now unveiled Panzura Symphony. This new platform is designed to offer comprehensive vendor-certified data operations under a single pane of glass, supporting various file system deployments and protocols, and cloud object storage providers.
Panzura says Symphony allows enterprise organisations to drive radical agility and control in their IT and data stakeholder operations. It offers automated, exabyte-scale data discovery and assessment, risk and compliance analysis, and dynamic data movement orchestration.
In a press statement this week, Waldschmidt said, “Panzura Symphony brings together proven technology and Panzura’s future vision where data management meets strategy for business success.” The company describes Symphony as the next generation of the former Moonwalk solution with a new and expanding tool set.
According to Panzura, Symphony changes the way businesses gain insights into their entire data estate. It allows teams to conduct comprehensive data discovery and assessments, providing a detailed overview of data including its structure, content, and relationships.
Customers can identify cost optimisation opportunities based on data volatility, temperature, file type, file size, ownership, and even metadata tags. Symphony also helps streamline data placement, transformation, and restructuring to support AI workflows and common formats for faster data analysis. The platform is datatype-sensitive, which is essential for AI pipeline support from data collection to model deployment.
A primary focus for the platform is handling data compliance and risk around regulatory requirements. The company says Symphony can be used by Data Governance Officers, Risk and Compliance Managers, Business Analysts, and other line-of-business leaders to conduct thorough risk assessments and audits, maintain detailed documentation, and deliver accurate and timely reporting.
Panzura chief technology officer Sundar Kanthadai highlighted the platform’s capabilities, stating, “Panzura Symphony helps organisations navigate blind spots within expanding data estates. They can get compliant, stay compliant, and scale into every corner of their unstructured footprint with meticulous analysis and policy application, flawless data movement, and evidence-based reporting to stakeholders.”
The company says data is lifeblood of business and the data services platform offers what it describes as Dynamic Workload Placement capabilities that allow ITOps and storage teams to direct data placement, archive, and migration in a way that fundamentally changes their data operations framework.
An example cited is how the platform allows data to be efficiently processed through DevOps and AI workflows.
With the launch of Symphony, Panzura has taken a step towards meeting the strategic data management needs of its enterprise customers. As these organisations increasingly adopt multi-cloud strategies, Panzura is positioning its solution portfolio to deliver even more value.
